ABP welcomes decision on removal of AgriStability reference margin limit

Following today’s Federal, Provincial and Territorial Meeting of Agriculture Ministers, an agreement has been reached to remove the reference margin limit (RML) within AgriStability. Alberta Beef Producers (ABP) would like to thank Minister Dreeshen, and the Prairie Ministers, for accepting this recommendation and providing producers with an enhanced business risk management program.

ABP encourages Alberta government to make a decision on AgriStability

Alberta Beef Producers (ABP) continues to strongly encourage the Government of Alberta to accept the proposed changes to AgriStability, outlined by the federal government 110 days ago. We have expressed our clear support of Minister Bibeau’s recommendations that offer the federal portion of funding to remove the Reference Margin Limit (RML) and increase compensation rates from 70 to 80 percent.

ABP Annual General Meeting concludes

Alberta Beef Producers (ABP) 46th Annual General Meeting took place this week with the delegate body meeting virtually to review the organization’s strategic direction and debate resolutions. Delegates heard updates on ABP’s priority areas and voted on resolutions brought forward from producer meetings held at the end of last year. Presentations were made by ABP staff and zone breakout sessions were held, along with a delegate in-camera session.
