Checking in with ABP

This month, we announced the 2022 Young Guns award recipients. A big thank you to all of the outstanding applicants, with special congratulations to Max Burris, Alexander Hastings and Tyson Ully, and Warren Westerlund!

Our 2022 Annual Report is now available online and in print. If you’d like a physical copy, please request one via email, and include your name and mailing address.

Don’t forget to apply for a seat at the table! We are accepting delegate nominations in all zones. Please read our FAQs, review delegate responsibilities, and submit your completed nomination form by midnight on October 31, 2022.

The Government Desk

This month, ABP Executive met with Alberta Veterinary Medical Association’s Executive to talk about common issues between the organizations, such as: how to address the ongoing veterinary shortage, and procedures for a potential Foot and Mouth Disease outbreak.

On October 20th, ABP witnessed for the House of Commons Standing Committee on Industry and Technology regarding Bill C-235 – Building a Green Prairie Economy Act. ABP Chair Dr. Melanie Wowk outlined the economic value of the beef industry along with its role in carbon sequestration and other ecological goods and services.

The Production Desk

Alberta AgriSystems Living Labs (AALL) hosted in-person and virtual information sessions this month. If you weren’t able to attend, or would like to review the information presented, please watch the virtual session online. And if you’re interested in learning more about the program, or how you can participate, email llextension@albertabeef.org.
