The Alberta Order of Excellence, the province’s highest honour, recognizes outstanding service and achievement across various fields. As part of the Canadian Honours System, it celebrates individuals whose leadership, innovation, and dedication have shaped Alberta’s identity and strengthened its future.
Since its inception in 1979, the Alberta Order of Excellence has acknowledged individuals who have made significant contributions to the province.
“I am very proud to extend this honour to these nine men and women, whose lives have had a considerable impact on Alberta’s history and have opened new opportunities for many Albertans,” says Lieutenant Governor Salma Lakhani.

The investiture ceremony will take place in Edmonton in October, bringing the total membership of the Alberta Order of Excellence to 229.
