Reminder: AgriStability late participation deadline Oct. 1

Alberta cattle producers who missed the spring AgriStability enrolment deadline have until Oct. 1, 2026 to apply for late participation.

The federal and provincial governments reopened enrolment for the 2026 program year in response to excessive moisture affecting farms and ranches. AgriStability helps producers manage large declines in farm income caused by production losses, increased costs or market conditions.

Producers who enrol late and qualify for a benefit will have that benefit reduced by 20 per cent. The governments have also increased the 2026 interim payment rate from 50 to 75 per cent of the estimated final payment, allowing eligible participants to receive more of their payment sooner.

How to apply

Producers must submit AFSC’s 2026 AgriStability Application for Fee Notice Form – Late Participation by Oct. 1. AFSC will then mail an enrolment fee notice for a $300 upfront fee, payable within 30 days of the notice’s issue date. Producers do not need to pay that fee by Oct. 1, but payment is required to remain eligible for the 2026 program year.
