Canadian Western Agribition celebrates first Canadian Animal AgTech Awards
Canadian Western Agribition (CWA) has announced the winners of the inaugural Canadian Animal AgTech Awards, presented by Deloitte.
The awards recognize innovative businesses at a national level for their exceptional work in animal agriculture technology.
The awards, which took place on November 23, gave finalists an opportunity to showcase their work and pitch their solutions to a panel of judges. The judging was based on three criteria: technology, team and experience, and market potential and finance.
The award categories and their winners are as follows:
- Rising Star Award, presented by Economic Development Regina
- Farm Simple, a Saskatchewan-based company that developed HERD HAND, an Internet of Things (IoT) device that remotely monitors livestock watering systems and alerts producers of any issues.
- Innovation Award, presented by Innovation Sask
- Smart Paddock, a company from Victoria, Australia, that created an all-in-one platform that enables farmers to manage their operations and track their animals, vehicles, water tanks, and fence lines using Bluebell GPS Smart Ear Tags for real-time updates on cattle or sheep.
- Business of the Year Award, presented by Deloitte
- OneCup AI, an Alberta-based company that developed BETSY, an AI-driven software that monitors various conditions in livestock such as injury, lameness, respiratory disease, dehydration, and weight loss or gain, and helps producers improve overall herd health and take immediate action.
The Canadian Animal AgTech Awards are part of CWA’s AgTech Alley, a dedicated area that showcases the latest technologies and innovations in the livestock sector.
