RDAR has announced the appointment of Dr. Mark Redmond as the new Chief Executive Officer, effective March 1. Dr. Gerald Hauer has filled the role of interim CEO since the organization’s inception and will continue to assist in the transition.
Dr. Redmond joins RDAR with over 25 years of experience in business, research and academics relating to agriculture. He has held positions as the Director of Incubation Service with a leading bio-based research company, Associate Dean at NAIT’s School of Health, and Adjunct Professor positions at the University of Alberta and Western College of Veterinary Medicine.
A release from the organization states that, “Mark looks forward to working with Alberta farmers, ranchers, researchers, and government in the vital work of accelerating Alberta’s agriculture research potential and growing innovation from the roots up.”
RDAR has also recently announced that after receiving a strong response to their inaugural call for proposals, an additional $3 million will be allocated towards funding agriculture research proposals – on top of the original $4 million. ABP continues to work closely with RDAR to reduce duplication and maximize industry investment in research projects that improve the competitiveness, profitability and sustainability of producers in Alberta.
