Alberta’s government is reinforcing its commitment to environmental stewardship by awarding $5 million in grants through the Land Trust Grant Program.
This funding will support 19 projects aimed at protecting nearly 21,000 acres of natural landscapes across the province, ensuring that landowners can continue to provide for their families will preserving vital ecosystems.
Minister of Alberta Environment and Protected Areas, Rebecca Schulz, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that it helps farmers and ranchers maintain their role as environmental stewards while supporting their livelihoods.
The projects will safeguard watersheds, riparian areas, and grasslands, contributing to the conservation of Alberta’s diverse natural landscapes.
The Land Trust Grant Program has been instrumental in conserving Alberta’s private lands, awarding over $50 million to land trust organizations. These efforts have helped protect more than 142,000 acres of land, ensuring that Alberta’s natural beauty and biodiversity of preserved for future generations.
