In a ceremony held at Rideau Hall and presided over by Governor General Mary Simon, Canada’s new Prime Minister, Mark Carney, was sworn in alongside members of the 30th Canadian Ministry.
This new Cabinet, described as leaner and more focused, includes a mix of returning ministers, seasoned leaders, and fresh voices, all aimed at addressing the key issues facing Canadians today.
Among the notable appointments is Kody Blois, who has been named Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Rural Economic Development. Blois takes over the position from former Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Lawrence MacAulay. Blois is expected to bring innovative ideas and a fresh perspective to the role, focusing on strengthening Canada’s agricultural sector and supporting rural communities.
Prime Minister Carney underscored the critical role of this newly assembled team.
“This team is build for immediate action and focused on protecting Canadian workers, supporting their families, and growing this great country. We are changing how things work, so our government can deliver to Canadians faster — and we have an experienced team that is made to meet the moment we are in. Our government is united and strong, and we are getting right to work,” says Prime Minister Carney.
The new Cabinet also includes key figures such as Dominic LeBlanc as Minister of International Trade and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mélanie Joly as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, and François-Philippe Champagne as Minister of Finance.
