The Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA) hosted the National Ag Leaders Debate today, moderated by Shaun Haney of RealAgriculture, and Martin Ménard from La Terre de chez nous, Québec. The debate featured prominent representatives from Canada’s major political parties, including Kody Blois (Liberal Party), John Barlow (Conservative Party), Heather Ray (New Democratic Party), Yves Perron (Bloc Québécois), and Dr. Mari Rodriguez (Green Party).
The debate kicked off with a discussion on the significance of agriculture and food processing, which contributed over $150 billion to Canada’s GDP in 2023. With global food demand projected to increase by 50 per cent by 2050, the leaders outlined their priorities to promote Canadian agriculture and agri-food both domestically and internationally.
