Calgary, AB – Alberta Beef Producers (ABP) is pleased to announce Taylor Ranches, owned and operated by Robert and Audrey Taylor and their family, as recipients of the 2024 Environmental Stewardship Award.
Robert and Audrey Taylor, along with two of their children – Courtney and Clayton – live and work along the Milk River Ridge, southwest of Warner, Alberta. Taylors’ two other children, Kyza, and Katrina, work off the ranch.
“Alberta Beef Producers is thrilled to recognize the Taylors with the 2024 Environmental Stewardship Award,” said Brodie Haugan, Chair, ABP. “The way families and business managers like the Taylors steward the land is something we will appreciate for generations to come.”
The Taylors manage 800-head of cattle, and a mixture of deeded land, Crown grazing land, and an allotment with the Waldron Grazing Cooperative. From ferruginous hawk to northern leopard frog, Taylor Ranches is also home to many at-risk and sensitive species.
Since acquiring the ranch, the Taylor family has developed relationships with industry partners like Ducks Unlimited Canada, Alberta Conservation Association, and MULTISAR. These relationships have proved crucial in their ongoing efforts to preserve the grasslands, prioritize wildlife habitat, and continue to graze cattle on the landscape.
“It is humbling to see the way the Taylor family works with the land,” says Cole Barten, ESA Chair. “They prioritize family collaboration, environmental stewardship, generational strengths, and the sustainability of the incredible operation they manage.”
The 2024 Environmental Stewardship Award is supported by Ducks Unlimited Canada and the Nature Conservancy of Canada.

The Environmental Stewardship Award is presented annually to cattle producers who exemplify environmentally sustainable cattle production. Alberta cattle producers nominate the best of their peers for this award, which has become one of the most prestigious in the industry. A panel of agriculture and conservation representatives assess the candidates, examining the stewardship goals and activities of the nominees, including: land management, water quality, wildlife, animal welfare and leadership activities in the community related to stewardship.
Alberta cattle producers are committed to producing beef in an environmentally sustainable manner. Through Alberta Beef Producers (ABP), they support policies, programs and educational efforts that uphold this vision. Through the Environmental Stewardship Award, the cattle community formally recognizes beef producers who have incorporated environmental protection into their management strategies.
