AgSafe Alberta unveils fourth level of FARMERS CARE program

AgSafe Alberta has taken a step in promoting farm safety with the launch of the fourth level of its FARMERS CARE program. The new level is designed to provide Alberta’s agricultural community with advanced resources and training to enhance safety practices on farms and ranches.

The FARMERS CARE program aims to foster a culture of safety and sustainability in agriculture. The introduction of the fourth level builds on this foundation, offering more comprehensive tools and strategies for managing risks and emergencies.

Highlights of the fourth level, include:

• Detailed guidance on handling emergency situations, including first aid training and establishing muster points on the farm.
• Updated training modules that incorporate the latest safety technologies and best practices.
• Initiatives to strengthen the safety culture within the agriculture community through workshops and collaborative events.

Jody Wacowich, Executive Director of AgSafe Alberta, emphasizes the importance of continuous improvement in farm safety.

“Each letter of the FARMERS CARE acronym and its corresponding symbol represent lifesaving opportunities that can be easily incorporated as farm safety values,” she explains. “We developed a program that was easy to use, practical, and accessible across the province as a way to help make safety standard on farming and ranching operations.”

Once completed, farmers and ranchers can continue with additional AgSafe Alberta certification programs based on the size, scale, and number of employees within their operation.
