Alberta Beef Producers (ABP) is preparing to host its 2026 Producer Meetings across the province this fall.
Meetings are scheduled in all five zones between Sept. 28 and Oct. 29. Producers will have an opportunity to hear industry updates, discuss local issues and participate in delegate elections.
According to Dorothy Thengs, an ABP delegate representing the Northwest Zone, the meetings play an important role in connecting producers with the organization and one another.
“These meetings are really about connection,” says Thengs. “Producers have an opportunity to sit down with their delegates and fellow producers, hear updates on the issues affecting the industry and have a direct hand in shaping ABP’s priorities and direction.”
Attendees will hear updates from ABP, the Canadian Cattle Association (CCA), and guest speakers. Producers will also have an opportunity to discuss issues affecting the beef sector.
This year’s meetings mark a return to a fall schedule. Each event runs from 5:00 – 8:30 PM and includes supper.
Thengs says discussion is an important part of the meeting.
“There’s real time built in for producers to ask questions, raise concerns, and talk about what they’re seeing on their own operations.”
Producers will also consider resolutions and take part in delegate elections.
The meetings provide a forum for producers to raise concerns and share what they’re seeing on the ground.
Thengs says those conservations help inform ABP’s work throughout the year.
“ABP is a producer-led organization, and that only works when we’re actually hearing from producers. These meetings are how that local, individual perspective gets into the room.”
ABP encourages producers to register in advance. Producers who register by Sept. 14, 2026, will be entered for a chance to win prizes.
