Supporting cross-border cattle industry connections
Alberta Beef Producers (ABP) hosted a meeting of state and provincial cattle groups in Nashville, TN on Monday, to coincide with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s Cattle Industry Convention and Tradeshow (CattleCon).
The meeting brought together representatives from U.S. state cattle associations and Canadian provincial organizations, along with others from across the beef value chain, as an opportunity to build and strengthen relationships at the state-provincial level and to share perspectives on issues of common interest.
Discussion focused on the integrated nature of the North American beef industry and the importance of collaboration, consistency and open dialogue to support a strong and competitive sector. Participants also exchanged views on the upcoming review of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA/USMCA) and the value of continued engagement as that process moves forward.
“Maintaining strong relationships with our state and provincial counterparts is important,” says ABP General Manager Brad Dubeau. “These conversations help us better understand shared priorities, identify areas of alignment and ensure grassroots perspectives are part of broader North American discussions.”
Participating organizations included cattle associations from Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, , Wyoming, North Dakota and Virgina, along with Alberta Beef Producers, Beef Farmers of Ontario, Saskatchewan Cattle Association, Alberta Cattle Feeders’ Association, JBS, and AgriBeef Co.
ABP looks forward to continuing dialogue with these groups and sharing insights with national counterparts in support of a resilient and thriving North American beef industry.
