Alberta Beef Producers would like to whole-heartedly thank Minister RJ Sigurdson for his service and leadership as Alberta’s Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation.

Minister Sigurdson is a strong advocate for Alberta agriculture and rural communities, bringing a practical, level-headed approach to complex issues facing producers. Many producers faced unprecedented challenges in the last few years, and Minister Sigurdson was an asset every time in finding solutions.

Throughout his time as Minister, he played a key role in advancing meaningful improvements to business risk management programs, spearheaded drought support efforts for impacted producers, and worked alongside industry on important issues including water availability, disease preparedness, and maintaining access to practical management tools.

Minister Sigurdson was also a strong champion for Alberta agriculture abroad, helping expand and protect market opportunities through trade missions and international engagement that support the long-term sustainability of the beef industry.

ABP appreciated his willingness to listen to producers and his efforts to ensure agriculture’s voice was heard as governments considered policies impacting Alberta’s cattle industry and rural communities.

We thank Minister Sigurdson for his collaboration and service to Alberta agriculture and wish him all the best moving forward.
