Alberta Beef Producers (ABP) is saddened to learn of the passing of Rick Burton of Claresholm, a past Chair of ABP and a long-time advocate for Alberta’s cattle industry.
A third-generation rancher from the Porcupine Hills west of Claresholm, Burton devoted his life to raising cattle, stewarding the land and speaking up for producers.
He served the industry in many leadership roles. In addition to serving as Chair of ABP (and formerly Alberta Cattle Commission), he served as Chair of Alberta Grazing Leaseholders Association. Burton was also actively involved with the Waldron Grazing Co-op and Western Stock Growers’ Association.
ABP extends sincere condolences to Burton’s family and friends, and all those who had the privilege of working with him.
According to Burton’s family, memorial tributes may be made to the Claresholm General Hospital Palliative Care or the Prostate Cancer Centre.
