Keeping BioSecurity Top of Mind
With animal disease concerns in various regions worldwide, it’s a good time to review or even begin your work in biosecurity.
The Beef Cattle Research Council (BCRC) sums up a starting point best with the two steps outlined in the article, Preventing a biosecurity breach:
- Identify your biosecurity risks
- Develop biosecurity protocols
Once you’ve completed those steps, it’s crucial to regularly review risks and protocols, and evaluate the quality of your protocol management and your commitment to those protocols.
For an all-encompassing resource, download the Canadian Beef Cattle On-Farm Biosecurity Standard – Implementation Manual.
You’ll also find many great biosecurity resources via BCRC and VBP+ (Verified Beef Production Plus).
