Marketing Assistant
The Marketing Assistant will support Alberta Beef Producers’ marketing initiatives by representing the organization at industry and consumer events and activities across Alberta, showcasing Alberta Beef and promoting the Alberta beef industry. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Marketing assistant also aids with event planning and administrative tasks to ensure ABP’s objectives are achieved.
Responsibilities and Activities
Event Coordination and Representation
- Represent ABP at industry and consumer events across Alberta
- Lead and organize ABP display booths and delegates at events
- Provide assistance with event planning to Stakeholders Relations Manager and Government Relations and Policy Lead, including booking venues and caterers
- Provide educational and awareness presentations to producer, consumer, or schools as required
- Develop and maintain files on events, including:
- The purpose of the event and alignment with ABP goals
- Number of participants and required messaging
- Feedback received, cost, sponsorship fees, and merchandise used
Marketing and Merchandise
- Assist in the creation of new display graphics as needed
- Maintain a log of the booking of displays and the tracking of ABP display materials
- Develop and maintain a list of non-inventory promotional materials
- Order, inventory, and manage merchandise as required, including quarterly inventory counts (or as required by the Controller)
- Prepare, process, and organize shipment of merchandise orders and display materials as required
- Provide Controller with ACCPAC merchandise orders weekly to ensure timely processing
- Provide Controller with any ACCPAC merchandise cash orders with detailed information on billing addresses, shipping dates and any payment terms agreed upon
Administration and Communication
- Communicate regularly with Zone delegates and assist in event planning
- Set up and participate in team meetings for Zones
- Represent ABP on external committees as needed
- Work with Marketing Manager to develop budgets, approve and code invoices in a timely manner
Additional duties
- Contribute to the overall goal of achieving ABP’s mission and vision
- Perform other duties as required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Education or experience in marketing, communications or a related field
- Experience in event planning and coordination
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively
- Self-motivated and proactive, capable of working independently with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, design software, social media platforms, and managing online stores
- Familiarity with the Alberta beef industry is an asset but is not mandatory
- Willingness to travel frequently within Alberta, with occasional evening or weekend work based on event schedules
- Possession of a valid driver’s licence
Work Environment
- This position is based in Calgary, Alberta, and may require travel to events and activities throughout the province
- Candidate may occasionally be required to work evenings or weekends, depending on event schedules
