Advertising Sales Representative

We are looking for an Advertising Sales Representative who understands the value of relationships and can work effectively with both producers and corporate advertisers across Alberta’s beef industry.

ABP has an integrated communications platform that includes a digital site and a print magazine. Both are dedicated to keeping producers up to date, featuring industry news and innovation, as well as animal health, business, financial, and human-interest stories.

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the advertising sales representative will be responsible for filling advertising space on a monthly and quarterly basis, depending on the platform.

Responsibilities

The Advertising Sales Representative will be responsible for the continued growth of the digital advertising and publication revenue by developing, building, negotiating, and closing business relationships.

• Responsible for ongoing sales with both new and existing clients
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and support them in achieving their advertising goals
• Schedule and attend meetings
• Provide customers with practical, effective advertising solutions tailored to the beef industry
• Act as account manager between clients and the creative team when ad design is necessary, coordinating assets such as logos, photos, and proof approvals, and collaborating with the team on the client’s behalf, ensuring timelines and expectations are met
• Attain or surpass specific sales targets set on a yearly basis
• Address client concerns in a timely and professional manner
• Present a variety of opportunities to all clients, as appropriate, and support special initiatives

Skills and Abilities

• An understanding of, or strong interest in, Alberta’s beef industry or agricultural community
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently
• Previous experience in sales, account management, or relationship-based sales is an asset
• Strong customer service skills, and the ability to be resourceful, responsive, and meet deadlines
• Ability to build and develop effective relationships within our team and with clients
• Positive attitude, flexible nature, and excellent communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with strong attention to detail
• A history of achieving and surpassing sales targets, and a strong drive for results is an asset
• A good understanding of online media
• Established network of connections within the beef industry, or the ability to quickly build those relationships
• Education in agriculture, marketing, advertising or related work experience is an asset
• Familiarity with Excel/Word/Google Documents and cloud-based technology (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox)
• Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and be prepared to attend select events across Alberta to establish and strengthen important relationships

Work Environment

• This is a contract position
• Contractor is responsible for setting their own hours
• Compensation includes a base rate plus commission
