Alberta Beef Producers is hiring a Digital Content Specialist to fill a one-year, full-time parental leave. Candidates can be in-office or remote (with a preference for those located near Calgary). The Digital Content Specialist reports to ABP’s Stakeholder Relations Manager.
Purpose
The Digital Content Specialist (DCS) creates and curates content for Alberta Beef Producers’ (ABP’s) digital communications tools and quarterly print magazine. The DCS will be fluent in digital engagement, journalism, and content principles. Reporting to the Stakeholder Relations Manager, the DCS is constantly looking for ideas, content, and collaborators, while also ensuring deadlines and approvals are met on an ongoing basis.
Position Overview
The Digital Content Specialist will play a crucial role in managing and creating engaging digital content for ABP. This position involves writing articles for ABP Daily, collaborating with the Stakeholder Relations Manager on podcast planning, creating social media posts, and coordinating with contractors for radio spots. The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and oversee prioritization and direction of digital content.
• Develop and maintain a content calendar to ensure timely and relevant content delivery.
• Monitor and report on content performance metrics.
• Ensure the content is engaging, relevant, and timely
• Create content schedules for various platforms including social media and radio spots
• Work closely with ABP staff to facilitate media requests in the absence of the Stakeholder Relations Manager.
• Coordinate and prepare spokespeople for radio appearances.
• Assist in developing and executing the podcast delivery plan for The Bovine by Alberta Beef Producers.
• Type and format WordPress posts and pages.
• Manage budgets and approve codes on invoices as required.
• Contribute to the overall goal of achieving ABP’s mission and vision.
• Optimize content for search engines to increase visibility and engagement.
• Stay informed about the latest developments in digital content and beef production.
• Respond to comments and messages on social media platforms to foster a positive community.
• Ensure visual content complements written content effectively.
• Review and update existing content to ensure accuracy and relevance.
• Such other duties as may be required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Familiarity with the Alberta beef industry.
• Minimum 5+ years in a content/editorial creation role, with the ability to successfully juggle multiple deadlines.
• Post-secondary education or experience in relevant fields (e.g. Journalism, Communications, etc.).
• Proven success collaborating with cross-functional teams to brainstorm content.
• Excellent strategic communicator with the ability to put plans into action.
• A self-starter, with an entrepreneurial attitude who can juggle multiple tasks.
