AgriStability and Hail Insurance deadlines approaching

Producers in Alberta are being urged to take note of several fast-approaching deadlines related to AgriStability and Hail Insurance programs administered by Agriculture Financial Services Corporation (AFSC). These programs are vital tools for managing risk and protecting farm income.

AgriStability

The AgriStability program, which provides income support when producers experience large margin declines, has two major deadlines on July 31, 2025:

  • Optional Reference Margin Methodology: This is the final day to select the optional reference margin methodology for the 2025 program year.
  • Enrollment and fees: Producers must enroll, pay fees (without penalty), or opt out of the program by this date.

Looking ahead, additional AgriStability deadlines include:

  • September 30, 2025: Last day to submit 2024 supplementary forms without penalty.

Hail Insurance

Producers seeking protection against hail damage should be aware of the following Hail Insurance deadlines:

  • July 31, 2025: Final day to purchase Straight Hail Insurance.
  • September 1, 2025: Interest begins accruing on any unpaid Hail Insurance premiums.

In Addition, interest will also begin accruing on unpaid premiums for Annual Crop Insurance and Perennial Crop Insurance on the same date.
