The Government of Alberta has a new campaign, titled ‘Buy Local,’ encouraging consumers to support the province’s agriculture and food industry by choosing local products.
The campaign aims to encourage people to buy from Alberta’s farmers, ranchers, and food processors who provide safe and nutritious food for Albertans, Canadians, and the world.
Minister of Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation, RJ Sigurdson, emphasized the importance of supporting local producers.
“It’s time to let these Albertans know we have their back. Now, more than ever, we need to shop local and buy made-in-Alberta products. The next time you are grocery shopping or go out for dinner or a drink with your friends or family, support local to demonstrate your Alberta pride,” explained Sigurdson. “We are pleased tariffs don’t impact the ag industry right now and will keep advocating for our ag industry.”
Alberta’s government is committed to supporting consumer choice by providing tools to help identify Alberta-and Canadian-made foods and products. Choosing local products keeps money within the province. Whether it’s farm-fresh vegetables, potatoes, honey, craft beer, frozen food, or beef, Alberta offers a variety of fresh foods produced locally.
This summer, you can support local at over 150 farmers’ markets across Alberta and meet the people who produce our food. By choosing local, Albertans can make a real difference to the livelihoods of their neighbours and the provincial economy.
