NRCB updates Abandonment and Permit Cancellations Policy
The Natural Resources Conservation Board (NRCB) has released an updated Abandonment and Permit Cancellations Policy.
The updated policy provides clarity on when abandonment of a confined feeding operation or manure storage facility should be considered.
Key changes include:
- Clearer criteria based on the condition of facilities
- Guidance on how to assess the owner’s intent
- Recognition of disease as a valid reason for temporarily stopping the use of a facility.
Members of the Policy Advisory Group were consulted during the update process, and their feedback is reflected in the final policy.
