Alberta Beef Producers (ABP) is looking for the next young farmer or rancher to join the Canadian Cattle Youth Council as a Provincial Representative.
The Youth Council prepares beef cattle farmers and ranchers (ages 18-40) for future leadership roles, through professional development like governance and board training, and participation in events and meetings.
Delegates have the opportunity to attend local, national and even international events, expanding their network and learning about ABP and Canadian Cattle Association (CCA) along the way.
The responsibilities of a delegate range from participating in events to communicating effectively to other youth and industry stakeholders. For Alberta’s Provincial Representative, expectations include regular written updates to the Board of Directors; contributing to one or more of ABP’s communications channels; and attending events within the province.
Interested youth can learn more more about the opportunities and responsibilities of Youth Council delegates, and specifically Alberta’s Provincial Representative, by reading each of the following:
The term length for Youth Council delegates is two years, with the exception of remaining on the council a third year for the Past President role. The term will officially start in September 2024, and the successful nominee can expect the council to start outreach in the summer months to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
To apply for Alberta’s Provincial Representative position, a nominee must be: aged 18-40; an eligible producer in Alberta; and hold or plan to hold Youth Council membership.
Albertans interested in the role can apply through one of the following nominations forms. These were designed to mirror ABP’s nomination forms for other roles, like ABP delegates, and representatives to the Beef Cattle Research Council and Canadian Cattle Association.
