The sessions will be held at 12PM central on March 28 (English), April 4 (French), and April 11 (English).
On April 3, 2025, from 4:30-8:00 PM there will be a free workshop on honeybee health and an introduction to beekeeping at Wye Community Hall in Sherwood Park, Alberta.
The workshop will cover basic permits needed for beekeeping, common pests and their management, and an introduction to basic beekeeping.
Speakers include County staff, Alberta Provincial Apiculturists, and members of the Strathcona Beekeepers Association, with a light supper and refreshments provided.
The next edition of the Sustainable Forages Webinar/Podcast Series will feature a discussion with Odaya Subedi on utilizing molecular breeding to improve water-related stress tolerance in alfalfa.
Two water extremes, waterlogging and drought, significantly impact alfalfa productivity, and climate change is expected to worsen these stresses. The research program aims to develop new alfalfa cultivars that can better withstand these stresses by understanding the complex mechanisms of stress tolerance and identifying potential targets for future breeding efforts.
The ALUS Open House titled “Riding Out the Drought: Riparian Strategies for Resilient Landscapes” will take place at Gordondale Hall.

Toso Bozic, Certified Arborist and Owner of Yard Whispers, will share his 28 years of experience in trees, forestry, and agro-forestry.

Mountain View County is hosting a free Green Acreages workshop on stewardship.
Participants will learn to evaluate and improve their property, map assets, plan activities, and access funding for qualifying projects.

On May 9, 2025, an intermediate beekeeping course will be held at Crop Diversification Centre North in Edmonton, Alberta.
Dr. Renata Labuschagne will reach participants about honey bee pests and diseases, colony health, and monitoring and treatment options.
Registration costs $180 and includes a CAPA Honey Bee Diseases & Pests book and a TTP Hive-side Guide; coffee and snacks are provided.
Aggie Days Mountainview, hosted by the Agricultural Societies of Carstairs, Cremona, and Didsbury, will take place on May 23-24, 2025, in Carstairs, Alberta.
This event celebrates the legacy, value, and future of agriculture through interactive exhibits and activities. The event includes a School Day for students on May 23 and a Community Day for the general public on May 24.
On June 17, 2025, the Lacombe Research and Development Centre will host a hands-on learning experience.
Participants will receive updates on herbicide resistance, invasive annual grass management, and hands-on weed ID training with over 45 species. Bus transportation is required, departing from Red Deer County and Lacombe County.
