Alberta Beef on the menu at Terroir

Terroir Symposium returns to Calgary, bringing together food, hospitality, agriculture and storytelling

The Terroir Symposium returns to Calgary May 29-31, bringing together chefs, restaurateurs, producers, tourism leaders, food writers, educators and industry partners from across Canada and around the world.

Now celebrating its 20th year, the symposium is billed as one of Canada’s leading gatherings focused on food culture, hospitality, storytelling and community-building. This year’s theme, The Joy of Food, explores the connections between food, place, culture and the people who help shape Canada’s food identity.

The multi-day program includes workshops, signature dining experiences, a VIP Opening Reception, and a full Symposium Day featuring Canadian and international speakers. Topics range from culinary innovation and hospitality leadership to sustainability, food systems and storytelling.

Alberta Beef Producers will have an important presence at this year’s event, with a variety of activities:

  • Alberta Beef will be featured throughout the symposium, including a dedicated chef action station during the VIP Opening Reception and as part of the symposium lunch on May 31.
  • ABP will also have an exhibitor booth during the opening reception and symposium day, where attendees can connect with representatives and learn more about Alberta’s beef industry.
  • In addition, Alberta beef producer Wade Meunier of Modern Pastures and 1899 Beef Co. will participate in the agriculture panel discussion on Sunday morning.

“Events like Terroir provide an opportunity to engage with people from across the food value chain and learn more about how Alberta agriculture fits into broader conversations around food, sustainability, tourism and consumer connection,” says Katie Songer, Marketing Manager with Alberta Beef Producers.

The VIP Opening Reception takes place May 29 at the Safari Lodge at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo and will feature chef action stations, exhibitors and networking opportunities for attendees.

The symposium concludes May 31 with a full day of keynote presentations, workshops and discussions at the Calgary Central Library.
