2025 ACA grazing opportunities: Boost forage growth on conservation sites
The Alberta Conservation Association (ACA) is offering livestock grazing opportunities on select Conservation Sites to mimic natural disturbances and encourage robust forage growth. These opportunities are available to producers through a tendering process.
Key details include:
- Not all bids may be accepted. The highest bid isn’t guaranteed to win. Bids will be reviewed, and licenses awarded within a week after the bid closing date.
- Bidders must inspect the land before bidding, with food access only permitted.
- Licensees must maintain fences and provide water if not already available on the property.
- Grazing or haying typically occurs between July 15 and August 31 each year. Specific agreements may provide additional details.
- Full payment is required before the start of the license term.
- The number of grazing days, Animal Unit Months (AUMs), acres, or other units tendered are approximate.
This initiative provides an opportunity for producers to contribute to conservation efforts while benefiting from healthy forage growth.
