Expanding high-speed internet access in rural Alberta

More than 14,000 rural Alberta households are set to gain access to faster, more reliable, and affordable high-speed internet.

In a joint effort between the federal government and the province of Alberta, a combined investment of $153 million will bring high-speed internet to 120 rural and remotes communities across the province.

To date, the federal and provincial governments have invested more than $370 million in 51 projects, bringing connectivity to more than 47,000 households across 333 communities in Alberta.

The Government of Canada is aiming to connect 98 per cent of Canadians to high-speed internet by 2026, and 100 per cent by 2030.

By 2026, 97.7 per cent of Alberta is projected to have high-speed internet access.
