The Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (CRSB) is offering a $400 incentive in 2026 to eligible CRSB Certified beef producers who maintain or achieve certification under the CRSB Sustainable Beef Production Standard.
According to CRSB, the goal is to encourage beef sourcing through certified supply chains.
All beef producers who keep their certification current as of June 30, 2026, or who were CRSB Certified between Jan. 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026, and have completed all related eligibility requirements, will receive the $400 payment.
The incentive program is expected to continue annually. Future payments will be based on the volume of CRSB Certified beef sold, with funds distributed evenly among eligible producers and subject to available program funding.
To qualify for the 2026 incentive, producers must:
Eligibility requirements include agreeing to share information with the Canadian Cattle Identification Agency (CCIA) for chain of custody purposes, submitting cattle birth dates into the Canadian Livestock Tracking System (CLTS), and submitting move-in events in the CLTS. Cattle moved into certified operations must originate from CRSB Certified farms or ranches to maintain chain integrity.
Payments are expected to be distributed by October 2026.
“The CRSB Certified Producer Incentive is an important step for the program and serves as a thank you from the CRSB and its supply chain partners that the investments beef producers have made to become certified do not go unnoticed,” said Ryan Beierbach, Chair of the CRSB and a Saskatchewan rancher. “Rewarding producers for their commitment to sustainable practices will continue to move our industry forward and enable us to communicate that to Canadians.”
According to the CRSB, there are currently 1,243 certified farms and ranches across Canada, encompassing 4.8 million acres of grazing land. Nine companies are sourcing CRSB Certified beef through the program.
