If you are looking to hire youth for agricultural jobs, you may be eligible to apply for support. But you’ll need to hurry.
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) has opened its Youth Employment and Skills Program to applicants.
The program offers subsidies for 50% of wages to a maximum of $14,000, with additional funding available to offset costs of employee relocation or the costs of barriers faced by eligible youth.
In order to be eligible, employers must offer agriculture career-related work experiences and skills in Canada. Employees need to be between the ages of 15 and 30, unemployed or underemployed, and a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada or a refugee under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
This program fills up fast. Those interested are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, as applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Projects may start retroactively as early as April 15, 2021.
