Every year, the Alberta Emerald Foundation awards leaders and innovators in environmental stewardship and sustainable land use. This year — in the Land category — the Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation (GRPF) is being recognized for its tireless dedication to grassland education, with an Emerald Award.
The GRPF is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of lands with important heritage and ecological value, including the Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park (GRPP).
In 2011, GRPF and Alberta Parks officially opened GRPP to the public. The organization has since worked to educate visitors about grassland ecosystems. Part of this work includes bringing grassland, pond, and archaeological programming to nearly 5,000 children every year.
GRPF was established in 2007 by the Harvie Family, and relies solely on grants and donations. Alberta Beef Producers is a proud supporter of the Foundation.
Find out more about GRPF, including visitor information and programming, online. And if it’s too far, or you’re unable to commute, check out GRPF’s unique, virtual, guided walk!
