Three ranches outside of Calgary that have been used in Alberta-based productions for decades were honoured in Cannes, France, on the weekend, winning the Location of the Year award at the Global Production Awards.
The awards are held concurrently with the world-famous Cannes Film Festival.
The award honoured three of Alberta’s local standing sets: The John Scott Ranch, the CL Ranch and Albertina Farms. Calgary was also a finalist for the City of Film Award, which is given to a city that has been friendly to film productions. All four properties have standing sets, including western towns that have been used in numerous productions.
