Elanco Canada – a subsidiary of a global animal health leader Elanco Animal Health – has announced the launch of a farm animal sustainability initiative, Leave it Better.
Following its launch in the United States in 2022, Leave it Better will unite the scope of Elanco Canada’s sustainability work with pork, poultry, beef and dairy animals under one consistent theme.
Inspired by real stories from farmers and producers, Leave it Better shares a desire to leave the land, the animals and the industry better than when it started. According to Elanco Canada, it also recognizes the company’s commitment to helping every customer improve the sustainability of their farm operation.
Cameron Olson, farm animal technical consultant at Elanco Canada, says they are thrilled to introduce Leave it Better to the Canadian market.
“Canadian producers have been, and continue to be, at the forefront of the industry when it comes to improving the sustainability of their operations,” he explains. “We are privileged to work alongside them in their efforts, sharing new tools and solutions through this program.”
Leave it Better is focused on measurement initiatives to help producers track performance and improvement, collaborating with industry leaders and bringing solutions to customers in the form of new animal health products, expertise and services.
Andrea Brocklebank, Executive Director at the Beef Cattle Research Council (BCRC) says it’s an exciting time for the livestock industry, and initiatives like Leave it Better are a key reason for this.
“We’ve seen a rapid rise in interest and importance placed on sustainability in livestock operations over the last decade and industry leaders like Elanco have been key drivers of this movement,” says Brocklebank. “The tools and resources provided through Leave it Better will improve the lives of producers, their animals and through meaningful emissions reductions, help to tackle global climate change.”
