And they were inspired thanks to producer responses to the once-every-five-years Canadian Cow-Calf Survey.

This information also helps demonstrate the value of research to government funders and helps support efforts to improve consumer confidence in Canadian beef.
The BCRC has received 348 responses, with a goal of 500+ completed surveys by March 31.
Let’s get those response numbers up, and ensure we have good representation from each region!

Past surveys have shown an increased adoption of pain control for castration.
BCRC used this example to demonstrate to government funders that Canadian beef producers are clearly willing to modify long-standing traditions and adopt new practices that are supported by science.
Seeing how readily Canadian cow-calf producers are adopting pain control for castration is also a good message that supports consumer confidence.
